Born during March 16th, 1929, at Lyon, France, Monsieur Mauriat commenced his musical journey in a early age. He practiced music in the Lyon Conservatory but later at the Paris Conservatory, which he honed his abilities as a composer but arranger. Mauriat’s first career was marked with work as a pianist and assistant for many French radio and television programs. Yet, it seemed his partnership with French pop star John Hallyday what brought him widespread recognition.
