The ancient tunnels, also called as the city City Defenses, are a web of subterranean tunnels and routes that extend into to the 13th era. Constructed as a guarding mechanism to shield the settlement from enemies, the tunnels were built using stone and chert, with some parts having impressive masonry domes. Over the centuries, the cracks have been employed for different reasons, including as a concealment spot for thieves, a shelter for people during moments of battle, and even as a speculated concealment spot for the mythical Winchester wealth.
